The Hochtaunus Transport Association (VHT) presented a new bus concept in Bad Homburg on Thursday, which will take effect on December 13. That is when the entire Rhine-Main Transport Association (RMV) changes its timetable. In the Hochtaunus district, new vehicles will also be gradually introduced.
According to the VHT, one of the key improvements is a continuous connection from Grävenwiesbach, the northernmost municipality in the district, to the district town of Bad Homburg. District Administrator Ulrich Krebs (CDU), chairman of the municipal joint association, emphasized that rural areas should be better connected. Residents of Seelenberg (Schmitten) will now get a bus every hour instead of every two hours. The same applies to the Weilrod districts of Finsternthal, Riedelbach, and Niederlauken.
On school days, services will be increased on popular routes: between Königstein and Mammolshain by 44 percent, and between Glashütten-Oberems and Königstein by a third. Cyclists will also benefit: from March to October, line 57 to the Großer Feldberg will carry five additional bikes on a bike rack, including up to three e-bikes. On weekends, the bus will run hourly from Bad Homburg, and on weekdays from Oberursel-Hohemark.
From 2027, the VHT will also take over the city buses in Oberursel. To this end, the association plans to purchase seven of nine new buses. About half of the fleet’s roughly 50 buses in the district are to be replaced. Due to long delivery times, a transition period applies until mid-2028. For the area around Usingen and Neu-Anspach, the VHT is buying three electric buses for long-distance services. From July 1 to August 16, the planned timetable will be published online; residents can then submit comments.
