The Ukrainian banking sector recorded an increase in foreign exchange rates on May 11. According to UNIAN, citing data from financial institutions, the average Dollar rate in banks rose by six kopecks to 44.11 UAH per Dollar. The selling rate for the US currency is 43.55 UAH.
The Euro also registered a higher rate: the average rate increased by four kopecks to 51.99 UAH per Euro. The European currency is offered for sale at 51.33 UAH. The official rates from the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) confirm this trend: the Dollar was set at 43.86 UAH, and the Euro at 51.60 UAH – each reflecting a decrease of six kopecks for the Hryvnia.
In exchange offices, the Dollar rate in the morning was 43.85 UAH (buying) and 43.75 UAH (selling). The Euro was traded at 51.80 UAH (buying) and 51.60 UAH (selling). The news agency Focus adds that the rates have only fluctuated moderately compared to the previous week.
Taras Lessovyy, Director of the Financial Markets and Investment Activity Department at Globus Bank, forecasts moderate rate movements and situational stabilization until May 17. He notes that the Dollar rate is unlikely to differ significantly from previous weeks, while the Euro rate will depend on the global situation.
