A storage facility for spent fuel elements near the decommissioned Ukrainian Chernobyl nuclear plant has been attacked. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said that no radioactive contamination was detected after the attack. Radiation levels were classified as safe.

The incident occurred in the area around Chernobyl, which has been repeatedly targeted by hostilities since the start of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. The IAEA has been monitoring nuclear safety in Ukraine since the beginning of the war and has its inspectors on site.
