The German national ice hockey team (DEB team) missed its first win against the USA at the World Championship. According to the Süddeutsche Zeitung, the referee did not penalize a rough attack on goalkeeper Philipp Grubauer. The game ended in a narrow defeat for the German team.
Despite the loss, the DEB team earned one point, keeping hopes of reaching the quarterfinals alive. The team of national coach Harold Kreis showed an improved performance but could not secure the first World Championship win against the USA.
