The Iranian government has confirmed that it has responded to a US peace proposal presented amid a fragile ceasefire. According to Iranian state media, the response was relayed to Washington through Pakistani intermediaries. This came after the US submitted a unilateral 14-point memorandum that includes the opening of the Strait of Hormuz and a framework for further discussions regarding Iran's nuclear program.
Benjamin Netanyahu stated in an interview that the war against Iran would continue as long as Tehran possesses a stockpile of highly enriched uranium (HEU). "It is not over because there is still nuclear material that needs to be removed from Iran," Netanyahu explained in an excerpt from a CBS interview.
Netanyahu called for the dismantling of enrichment facilities in Iran, emphasizing that the best course of action would be to penetrate Iran to secure the fissile material under an agreement. In a separate interview, US Donald Trump took a more relaxed stance on the HEU stockpile, suggesting that satellite monitoring would suffice for the time being to ensure no one has access to the material.
The situation remains tense as military activities in the region increase and the possibility of renewed conflict looms. Netanyahu warned that the threat posed by Iran's nuclear program must continue to be taken seriously.
