According to the Ukrainian news agency Ukrainska Pravda, the informal meeting of the European Union's foreign ministers in Cyprus will also address the conditions that the EU wishes to impose on Russia. Kallas emphasized the importance of clarifying internally which topics should be raised with Russia.
The EU diplomat pointed out that European security is threatened by Russia's ongoing attacks on neighboring countries. "We must also demand concessions from Russia," Kallas stated, referencing the presence of Russian troops in Moldova as an example of the security situation in the region.
Additionally, DW reported that Kallas rejected the candidacy of former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder as a negotiator between the EU and Russia. Official sources in Berlin support this rejection, viewing Schröder's nomination as an attempt to stir tensions within Europe.
