The government question time in the Bundestag lasted 90 minutes. Minister Lars Klingbeil (SPD) and Minister Verena Hubertz (SPD) answered lawmakers’ questions. The session took place in Berlin.

Klingbeil, who has led the Finance Ministry since December 2024, faced questions on the government’s austerity plans. The coalition aims to cut billions to close the budget gap. Hubertz, meanwhile, faced questions on the housing crisis and possible cuts to housing benefits.

The government question time is a standard instrument of parliamentary oversight. Unlike the general question hour, lawmakers can directly follow up with ministers. The next session is scheduled for May 21.
