The incident occurred while a group was on duty notifying conscripts. According to the Kharkiv Regional Territorial Recruitment Center (TCC), the group leader introduced himself to the citizen, who then suddenly pulled out a knife and attacked the soldiers.
Two servicemen sustained stab wounds. One underwent surgery and is in hospital. The other succumbed to his severe injuries despite resuscitation efforts. The attacker fled; police are searching for him.
The day before, a similar incident had occurred in Kharkiv: a man attacked police officers with a knife, wounded two officers, and was arrested. The suspect had multiple prior convictions and was wanted for evading military service.
