Italian journalist Ugo Poletti, a regular commentator for the Kyiv Post, has been awarded the Medal of the Order for the Defense of Ukraine. The ceremony took place in Odesa, where Colonel Vyacheslav Vasilyev, a decorated Hero of the Ukrainian People and head of the International Alliance of Defenders of Ukraine, presented the award.
Poletti, who also serves as editor-in-chief of the Odesa Journal, has spent years documenting life, culture, and the brutal reality of the Russian invasion from the Ukrainian port city. The official citation praised his unwavering commitment to the survival and future of the nation. According to the certificate, Poletti received the award for an active public stance, personal dedication, a significant contribution to the development of civil society in Ukraine, and support for the defense forces.
