The Kyiv prosecutor’s office has charged a 50-year-old organizer from the Cherkasy region and three accomplices with organized fraud. The group advertised “esoteric” and “fortune-telling” services online, including “removing hexes” and “generational curses,” investigators said.
The perpetrators initially demanded small amounts starting at 500 hryvnias but increased prices through intimidation. For an alleged “generational curse” removal, they charged 16,000 hryvnias. The victims—four women—paid nearly 800,000 hryvnias in total before the group was uncovered in March 2026. The charges carry a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
