The EU ambassador to Ukraine, Katarína Mathernová, described a “hell over Kyiv” and wrote on X that she had spent the night with others in an overcrowded shelter. The air raid sirens had woken her in the middle of the night. She confirmed 13 dead and dozens injured but fears a higher death toll.
Germany’s Foreign Office in Berlin said the images of destruction showed “the unbroken brutality of Russian aggression.” Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin shows no willingness for peace negotiations but continues to use missile and drone terror against the civilian population. Germany will continue to support Ukraine – the issue is to play a key role at the next NATO summit.
The Czech Foreign Ministry condemned the attacks and the attempts at justification by Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. “For the people who plan, order, and even justify such attacks, the darkest place in hell is reserved,” a statement said. Responsibility lies not only with those who carry out the attacks but also with the commanders and public apologists.
