As reported by Deutschlandfunk, the women’s rights organization medica mondiale has issued an appeal to the German government. The organization demands that combating sexualized war violence be made a political priority.

The appeal comes against the backdrop of a globally increasing number of wars and armed conflicts. According to medica mondiale, the rise in hostilities also leads to an increase in sexualized violence against women and girls.

The organization, founded by gynecologist Monika Hauser, calls on the German government to take concrete measures. These include, among other things, more funding for medical and psychosocial care for survivors, as well as a stronger anchoring of the issue in German foreign and security policy.
