After coalition negotiations, Dominik Krause (Greens) has taken over the mayoral chain from his predecessor Dieter Reiter (SPD). The new government in Munich’s town hall is now officially in office. Alongside Krause, his deputies Mona Fuchs (Greens) and Verena Dietl (SPD) will play a central role in the coming six years.
In the podcast “Hey Munich,” it is explained which positions the new officials will take on. The District Administration Department is responsible for public safety, while the Department for Labor and Economy oversees the Oktoberfest. This structure will be crucial for the city’s future policies.
Another topic discussed in the podcast is the return of the Eisbach wave, which was temporarily closed after a failed stream diversion in October 2022. The wave is now open again for surfers, which is great news for many water sports enthusiasts. Mayor Krause initially expected a longer closure, but the restoration was completed faster than anticipated.
The Eisbach wave is not only a popular surfing spot but also a symbol of Munich’s leisure culture. Its return is welcomed by many citizens and tourists eager to enjoy the attraction once again.
