As reported by the Süddeutsche Zeitung, the rail replacement service (SEV) at Munich’s Goetheplatz and Poccistraße subway stations has been running for nearly a week – and criticism is already mounting. Passengers board the wrong buses, complain about crowding at the stops, and about buses stuck in traffic. Munich’s public transport company (MVG) now plans to counter with several measures.
Bus X6 will get its own stop at Implerstraße station on Oberländerstraße, where a one-way regulation for public transport will be lifted. This is intended to ease passenger flows when switching from the U3/U6 to bus lines U6/X6. In addition, the area in front of the replacement bus U6 stop at Implerstraße will be asphalted to create more space. The arrival times of the subway trains are also to be retimed – likely starting Tuesday, according to an MVG spokesperson.
At Sendlinger Tor, the exit of replacement bus U6 will likely be moved to Sonnenstraße in the course of next week to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion. The city is also examining whether traffic light timing can be optimized. Additional staff will be deployed at both stops to assist passengers. The closure of the stations is officially set to last until August 2027; the first construction phase runs until September 18.
