According to a report by the Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland, Health Minister Warken is planning to increase the contribution surcharge for childless people in long-term care insurance by 0.1 percentage points. Currently, childless people pay a surcharge of 0.6 percent of their gross income. The exact timing of the reform is still open.

Long-term care insurance has been under financial pressure for years. Rising costs due to more people in need of care and higher personnel costs are straining the system. The planned increase is intended to help keep contributions stable.
