Germany’s pension commission has finalized its report and agreed on 30 reform proposals, several commission members confirmed to the German Press Agency. The overall package is supported by all 13 politicians and experts on the commission, though individual points saw dissenting votes or abstentions.

Friedrich Merz (CDU) announced on Wednesday on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France that the commission’s findings are to be handed over next Tuesday. Merz expressed confidence in the proposals and stressed the need to reform the country so that future generations can live in freedom and prosperity.

The black-red coalition plans to craft a comprehensive reform package by the summer break, covering the labor market, pensions, income tax, and bureaucracy reduction. Social Minister Bärbel Bas (SPD) has tied implementation of the recommendations to a unanimous vote by the commission.
