The portal “Toilets Make School” offers interactive applications, checklists, and guides. Special emphasis is placed on involving students: through teams and democratic decision-making, they are to take responsibility, which according to the GTO reduces vandalism.
The organization is also calling for more public funds for cleaning, renovation, and maintenance of school toilets. Sustainable improvements require reliable investment, the GTO emphasized during the presentation in Berlin.
Various schools in Germany have already shared design ideas implemented on the platform. The German Toilet Organization works worldwide to ensure access to clean sanitary facilities.
