The so-called occupation administration of Crimea has announced the introduction of time-limited power supply restrictions. The schedules are to be published on the official websites of municipalities and the energy company ‘Krymenergoinform’. The reason given was damage to power grids, which had already led to partial outages in several energy districts on Sunday.

At the same time, the fuel crisis is worsening. The Russian-installed governor Sergei Aksyonov declared that gas stations may only supply state institutions responsible for the ‘functioning and security’ of Crimea. Previously, gasoline had already been distributed only in limited quotas. Ukrainian forces had earlier disrupted supply routes to the occupied peninsula.

President Volodymyr Zelensky described the recent Ukrainian strikes on military targets in Crimea and Russia’s border region as a ‘fair response to Russia’s brutal attacks’. The Russian side reported shooting down 239 Ukrainian drones in a single night. The crisis in Crimea is considered the most severe since the illegal annexation in 2014.
