The Russian President Vladimir Putin has openly warned Armenia that it should expect a 'Ukrainian scenario' if it supports EU membership. This threat comes at a time when Russia is increasingly losing influence in the region, according to 24tv.

Putin emphasized the 'special centuries-old relations' between Russia and Armenia and called for a referendum on the country's geopolitical course. Valerij Kločok, head of the Public Analytics Center 'Weża', stated that these remarks were made at a critical moment, as Russia is fighting not only for Armenia but for its influence across the entire post-Soviet region.

The situation is exacerbated by the visits of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Baku and Yerevan, further questioning Putin's control over his 'allies'. Kločok pointed out that Russia's sphere of influence is increasingly being encroached upon by Western democracies, complicating the geopolitical situation for the Kremlin.
