Ukrainska Pravda reports that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov informed his US counterpart Marco Rubio in a phone call that the Russian army is beginning “systematic strikes” on objects in Kyiv allegedly used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Russian Foreign Ministry justified the announcement with alleged “terrorist attacks” by the Kyiv regime.
Russia recommended that foreign states evacuate their diplomatic personnel and citizens from Kyiv. On May 24, Russia had already launched a massive combined strike with 90 missiles and 600 drones, including the Oreshnik missile, against Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported four dead and around 100 wounded at the time; in Kyiv, about 30 residential buildings were damaged.
