On June 15, Russia massively attacked the Ukrainian capital Kyiv with missiles and combat drones. Several cultural institutions were hit, including the renowned exhibition and cultural center Mystetskyi Arsenal. According to the center’s press office, a large fire broke out on the building’s roof, spreading over about 1,000 square meters.
The likely cause of the fire was the impact of an Iranian Shahed drone, the statement said. No casualties were reported initially. Rescue and emergency crews are on site to extinguish the fire and assess the damage. The institution called it a “blow against Ukraine’s cultural heritage.”
The Mystetskyi Arsenal is a significant venue for art, history, and public debate in Kyiv. The attack is part of a series of Russian strikes on civilian and cultural infrastructure in Ukraine.
