A Russian strike hit a thermal power plant owned by Ukrainian private energy operator DTEK on Friday, June 12, the company reported. One employee was killed, another suffered serious injuries. Emergency crews are treating the injured worker in hospital.
The impact caused “significant destruction” to specialized generation and transmission equipment, according to DTEK. Technicians and emergency teams began damage control and stabilization after the all-clear.
The attack is part of a series of systematic strikes against Ukraine’s power infrastructure. On Monday, Russian forces attacked four DTEK energy facilities in the Dnipropetrovsk region with drones and artillery.
