The attack occurred on June 14 around 11:00 p.m. in the Kholodnohirskyi district. According to investigators, the Russian army first struck an unused building with a Geran-2 drone. When firefighters arrived to deal with the aftermath, four more rocket strikes hit the same spot.
In the second attack, four members of the state fire service and one employee of the city emergency department were killed. Six other rescuers were injured, as were three civilians. That same night, a drone also hit a residential area in the Shevchenko district, injuring one woman and damaging several apartment buildings and cars.
The prosecutor’s office opened an investigation into war crimes. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said the attack demonstrates the aggressor’s cynical tactic: a second strike follows the first as soon as helpers arrive. The rescue service released the names of the fallen comrades — they belonged to Kharkiv’s 6th state fire station.
