The Ukrainian partisan group ‘Atesh’ reports that the staff structures of the Russian Black Sea Fleet are working on plans to move the remaining command units from occupied Sevastopol to Novorossiysk. The group attributes the step to the increasing Ukrainian attacks on Crimea, particularly after the strike on the Black Sea Fleet aviation headquarters on May 27.
According to military sources, some officers are already handling practical relocation matters on their own: they are moving their families to safety, selling property they cannot take, and settling in at the new location in Novorossiysk. The mood in the fleet leadership is depressed, says ‘Atesh’ – those who realistically assess the situation do not want to waste time.
The partisans view the relocation as a logical consequence of the systematic pressure on fleet infrastructure in Crimea. Maintaining headquarters on the peninsula is becoming increasingly costly and risky for the occupiers. ‘Judging by the development of the situation, the coming months could be the toughest for the occupation troops in Crimea since the start of the war,’ the group said.
