The attack damaged local transport infrastructure and sparked fires. Five trucks loaded with grain were destroyed, and three more were damaged, the military administration said. Authorities in the Izmail district confirmed the fires have been extinguished; police and rescue workers are on the scene.
The attack on Odesa follows a series of Russian drone strikes on the Kyiv region on Friday, August 28, which killed one person and injured at least nine others. In Myla, Bucha district, a drone hit a business, injuring six people and forcing 165 residents to evacuate, according to Kyiv regional governor Tymur Tkachenko. Prosecutors are investigating whether explosives were legally stored there.
Friday’s strikes also destroyed a Nova Poshta sorting center in Sviatopetrivske. Russian forces struck the site again about an hour later while emergency crews were fighting the fire; all employees survived.
