Russian forces conducted a coordinated drone campaign against several Ukrainian regions during the night of May 15 to 16. In Odesa, the port infrastructure and residential buildings suffered significant damage. According to Oleh Kiper, the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, the attack targeted both shipping infrastructure and civilian living spaces.
The strikes in Odesa caused massive damage to a warehouse and an administrative building. A drone strike also hit a five-story residential building, shattering several windows and igniting balconies. Additionally, a single-family home was struck, resulting in at least two injuries as rescue teams worked to free residents from the rubble.
At the same time, the central Shevchenkivskyi district in Kharkiv was hit by a drone strike that damaged a main road and injured at least one person. Kharkiv’s mayor, Ihor Terekhov, reported that the attack severely damaged three subway entrances and several public transport stations, significantly impacting local transportation infrastructure.
The attacks in the Poltava region also targeted private homes, raising concerns about ongoing Russian strikes on civilian targets. These attacks are part of a broader strategy by Russia aimed at destabilizing critical infrastructure in Ukraine.
