Russian forces attacked the southeastern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia early on Sunday morning with guided aerial bombs (KABs). The munitions struck a residential area directly, causing building damage and sparking a fire. Ivan Fedorov, head of the regional military administration, confirmed the attack on Telegram: “The Russians hit the regional center on Sunday morning. There is known destruction and a fire.”

According to Fedorov, at least two civilians — a man and a woman — were injured. He later revised the number upward: a child was also among the wounded. Fedorov released video footage from the impact site showing rescue workers pulling wounded people from the rubble. Authorities are still assessing the full extent of the damage and the number of casualties.

The attack on Zaporizhzhia was part of a coordinated wave of Russian strikes on several Ukrainian cities. In the capital Kyiv, air raid sirens sounded between 2:00 and 2:35 a.m. local time, with at least seven explosions heard. The head of the Kyiv city military administration, Tymur Tkachenko, confirmed that the capital was targeted with ballistic weapons. The focus was on the Darnytskyi district on the left bank. The attack sparked fires in several locations, including the courtyard of a residential building, an auto repair shop, and an unused non-residential building. At least two people were injured in the Darnytskyi district.

At the same time, the northern city of Chernihiv was attacked by Russian drones. According to the Chernihiv City Council, drone debris fell on a local school, damaging an educational building. The shockwave shattered windows in a neighboring five-story residential block, and two people were injured. In the central-eastern Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian attacks hit gas stations in the Dniprovskyi and Samarivskyi districts, igniting fires and damaging several vehicles, with two people injured. Russian forces also shelled the Nikopol area, including the city of Nikopol and the communities of Chervonohryhorivka, Marhanets, and Pokrovske. The shelling sparked a fire in a local sports building, which was extinguished by emergency crews.
