Ukrainian singer Sofia Rotaru has spoken out publicly for the first time since the Russian missile attack on Kyiv on the night of July 2.

In her Instagram story, Rotaru posted pictures of damaged houses, adding only the date of the attack – July 2 – and a broken heart emoji. The city of Kyiv has officially declared July 3 a day of mourning.

Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the singer has been living in seclusion at her home near Kyiv, as her sister recently revealed. She gives no interviews and attends no public events, but regularly reacts to missile attacks and commemorates important national dates.
