Voter turnout was 46 percent of the nearly 84,000 eligible voters. Reinhardt thus remains district administrator for an eight-year term. The next regular district elections in Brandenburg will not take place until 2029.

In the first round on June 7, Reinhardt had achieved 34.7 percent, Arndt 30.3 percent. Two other candidates had dropped out at that point. In the runoff, the SPD candidate now clearly prevailed.
