President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced plans to end Russia's war of aggression before winter, combining diplomacy, sanctions, and strikes on Russian military targets, as reported by Kyiv Post.

At a meeting with Ukrainian ambassadors in Kyiv, Zelensky presented autumn 2026 as the window in which Russia is to be forced into peace. He acknowledged, however, that this timeline cannot be guaranteed.

Zelensky accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of seeking to prolong the war through further mobilization and new attacks. “We will try very hard to achieve this before winter, in autumn,” Zelensky said, according to RBC-Ukraine. “But we know exactly who we are dealing with and that Putin hopes to drag this war out further.”

The strategy includes diplomatic efforts, sanctions, and medium- and long-range strikes on Russian facilities that support the war. Zelensky called these strikes “long-range sanctions” and stressed that the pressure must become so strong that Russia has no alternative but peace.
