Before the assembled ambassadors of Ukraine in Kyiv, Zelensky made clear that an exact date for a possible peace cannot be predicted. He relies on a combination of Ukrainian drone attacks over medium and long range, international sanctions, and diplomatic efforts. These must work together to leave Russia no other choice, as he said.
At the same time, Kyiv is preparing for another winter of war. Zelensky instructed the diplomats to organize technical support and weapons with foreign partners. “Every ambassador must procure weapons for Ukraine,” he demanded. He named the joint development of the Freyja missile defense system with European partners as an important project.
At the end of June, Zelensky announced a 40-day phase of intelligence operations to force Russia into peace. This period included, among other things, attacks on logistics centers of the Russian online retailer Wildberries. The deadline expires this Tuesday.
