Ukraine Attacks Russia’s Supply Route to Crimea with Drones

Ukrainian forces are intensifying strikes on Russia's R-280 'Novorossiya' supply route, which connects Russia to occupied Crimea. According to the Kyiv Post, citing commanders, military traffic on the route has dropped by up to 71% amid sustained drone attacks.

The R-280 ‘Novorossiya’ route runs from Rostov-on-Don through occupied Mariupol and Melitopol along the Azov coast to Crimea. It serves as a central supply artery for Russian occupation forces. Ukrainian units call the road the ‘road of death’ and regularly attack convoys, bridges, and railway links.

A Ukrainian assault regiment told the Kyiv Post: ‘We see all movements and fully control the enemy’s repair efforts. We are ready to make our long-range adjustments at any time.’ Since late May, the road has been largely closed to civilian traffic. Observers report an increasing number of destroyed trucks along the route.

The attacks are part of Ukraine’s ‘middle strike’ strategy, which aims to disrupt Russian logistics deep behind the front line and isolate occupied territories. According to Ukrainian drone operators, dozens of Russian military vehicles, including fuel and ammunition convoys, have been destroyed in recent months.

Analysts say the repeated strikes are increasingly limiting Russia’s military mobility. The fighting over supply routes to Crimea continues.
