Ukrainian forces have significantly intensified their attacks on Russian supply routes in occupied territories over the past months. According to the US Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the operations aim to disrupt Russian logistics and slow the occupiers’ advance.
The M-14 highway, a key link between Russia and occupied Crimea, has been particularly affected. The Russian-installed head of the occupation administration in the Kherson region, Volodymyr Saldo, imposed restrictions on heavy truck traffic on this section on May 21. ISW interprets this as an indication of the growing threat from Ukrainian attacks.
The N-20 highway between Mariupol and Donetsk has also come under Ukrainian fire. Ukrainian defense forces have massively disrupted Russian transport traffic there in recent weeks, the analysts say. The attacks complicate the supply of Russian troops and help slow their advance at the front.
