Total defense spending in 2026 will reach 4.4 trillion hryvnias – a record compared to previous years. The Ukrainian parliament has approved the corresponding funding for the armed forces, the BBC reports, citing official data.
President Volodymyr Zelensky had previously floated a minimum payment of 30,000 hryvnias for military personnel. Whether the new funds will be sufficient to raise soldiers’ pay remains to be seen.
