Ukraine: Wounded Soldiers to Keep 100,000 UAH Combat Allowance

Ukraine's Defense Ministry has published new rules for the transformation of the armed forces. Wounded soldiers will continue to receive the monthly combat allowance of 100,000 UAH during inpatient hospital stays for up to twelve months.

Ukrainska Pravda reports that the ministry published answers to frequently asked questions about the transformation of the defense forces. The regulation applies to all soldiers undergoing inpatient treatment, regardless of the severity of their wounds.

President Volodymyr Zelensky has ordered the gradual discharge of long-serving soldiers. By the end of 2026, soldiers who have served since 2014 or since the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022 are to be released from service step by step. Priority will be given to those with the longest service time and the most time at the front.

The average salary increase for frontline soldiers is about 300,000 UAH per month. For rear units, the basic salary rises from 20,000 to 30,000 UAH. The relevant government decisions were made on Friday and take effect upon publication.
