Wiktorija Leléka, who will represent Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, has been living in Berlin for several years. In an interview, she explains that her decision to represent Ukraine is deeply connected to her personal story. She won the national selection in Kyiv while facing difficult circumstances.

“It’s a song about believing in oneself – that the impossible can become possible,” says Leléka. She emphasizes that Ukraine, despite the challenges brought by the war, experiences great solidarity and interest in its culture. Her family has German roots, which has strengthened her connection to Germany and the German language.

The singer began her educational journey in Germany in 2016, studying jazz singing in Dresden. Later, she earned a master’s degree in jazz composition and studied film music at the Babelsberg Film University. These experiences have shaped her musical style and helped her communicate her message clearly.

Leléka is confident that people will feel the emotions in her song. “We invest so much energy to ensure that the audience truly experiences this song and feels it with all the strings of their soul,” she explains. The organizational aspects of her performance are coordinated by the national broadcaster Suspilne Ukraine.
