The repeaters had been used to coordinate Russian attacks on Ukraine. Zelenskyy said the devices have been out of operation since June 22. He does not know if they have been dismantled, but the fact remains: they no longer work.

On June 19, Zelenskyy issued an ultimatum to Alexander Lukashenko: within a week, he must remove the repeaters, or Ukraine would act on its own. The four installations in the Homel and Brest regions were used to guide attacks on the Korosten–Kovel railway line and targets in the Zhytomyr, Rivne, and Volyn regions.

The Ukrainian president reiterated his demand in an interview with TV channel 1+1: “Turn them off, remove them, and show us they have been removed. Then the matter is settled.” Previously, Kyiv had conveyed the request multiple times through diplomatic channels, but has now moved to a public demand.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov responded to the ultimatum by pledging to ensure Belarus’s security. Lukashenko himself has not commented on the developments but has announced a meeting with Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin.
