Vladyslav Vlasiuk, the Ukrainian sanctions commissioner, stated that fragments of the Kh-101 missiles, which killed at least 24 people in an attack on a residential building in Kyiv on Thursday, contained parts from Western manufacturers. According to Vlasiuk, the components found indicate that Russia is using missiles “directly from the production line.”
Analysis of the missile fragments revealed that they included over 100 parts from major U.S. and European companies. These include microchip manufacturers such as Texas Instruments, AMD, and Kyocera AVX, as well as the Harting Technology Group and the Nexperia.
Vlasiuk pointed out that these findings confirm a trend showing that Russia is increasingly relying on Western technologies to bolster its military capabilities. “In this context, statements about possible short-term ‘ceasefires’ while arms stockpiles are replenished take on a different light,” he said.
The use of Western components in Russian missiles raises questions about the role of international companies in arms production and could impact discussions on sanctions against Russia.
