Samsung, the South Korean electronics giant and the world’s largest producer of memory chips, averted a strike at the last minute — for now. According to Tagesschau, management and the union reached a tentative wage agreement on Wednesday, just one hour before the planned walkout was set to begin.
A strike at Samsung would have had global repercussions, as the company plays a key role in the global chip supply chain. The agreement includes a wage increase and improved working conditions, the union said. Details were not initially disclosed.
The conflict had escalated in recent weeks. The union had previously threatened the largest strike in the company’s history. EuroPulse reported on the escalation of the wage dispute at Samsung on May 16, 2026 (Samsung faces biggest strike in company history).
