The German cabinet passed a law on Wednesday to strengthen cybersecurity. According to the federal government, the decision grants expanded powers to the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). The Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) and the Federal Police also receive additional competencies.

The law aims to increase security on the internet and better equip state authorities against cyberattacks. In the future, the BSI will be able to issue warnings and order measures more quickly. The government did not initially provide specific details on the exact scope of the new powers.
