The British government is releasing more than 1,000 pages of private messages that Peter Mandelson exchanged with ministers and officials during his time as ambassador to the US, the Guardian reports. The release follows a so-called ‘Humble Address’ – a parliamentary motion by the Conservatives that forces the government to hand over the documents. Insiders say the documents contain ‘appalling’ and ’embarrassing’ remarks about Keir Starmer.

The Conservatives requested the disclosure to learn more about Mandelson’s appointment as ambassador – particularly his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. According to the Guardian, the documents suggest the Foreign Office did not take the risks of the appointment seriously enough. Government sources, however, do not expect any resignations.

Separately, Health Secretary James Murray made headlines by clarifying that single-sex spaces in the NHS will remain protected on the basis of biological sex. Murray said he would no longer use the phrase ‘trans women are women’. He had recently taken office after his predecessor Wes Streeting resigned to run for Labour leader.

EuroPulse reported on 25 May 2026 about Andy Burnham’s victory in the Makerfield by-election, which gained additional attention through a retweet by Elon Musk (link).
