According to the Tagesspiegel, Pantisano expects a strong result in the election for co-party chair. “I would be very satisfied with a result above 70 percent,” he told the German Press Agency. The 46-year-old is running at the party congress in Potsdam to succeed Jan van Aken, who is stepping down for health reasons. Ines Schwerdtner is running again.

Pantisano wants to anchor the Left Party more strongly in the workplace and organize protests. “In the coming weeks, we need to organize resistance among workers against a federal government that tramples on their achievements,” he said. Specifically, he plans to travel to Saxony-Anhalt with members after the party congress to support comrades in the state election campaign.

The architect and urban planner represents the Stuttgart and Konstanz region as a member of the Bundestag. In the 2020 mayoral election in Konstanz, he narrowly lost to the CDU candidate with around 45 percent.
