Microsoft is updating its Surface Pro 13 tablet and the Surface Laptop 13.8 and 15 notebooks with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2. The second-generation chip offers ten or twelve cores, while the top model with 18 cores remains reserved for business variants. Prices have risen noticeably – according to Heise, a consequence of the ongoing memory crisis.
The Surface Pro 13 starts with a ten-core chip and LCD screen at 1,600 euros (16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, silver). For 1,700 euros, the tablet comes in sand or black with double the SSD. Models with a twelve-core chip and OLED panel start at 1,900 euros. The most expensive configuration (64 GB RAM, twelve-core) costs 3,700 euros – without power adapter, pen, or keyboard. The smaller Surface Pro 12 remains in the lineup with the first Snapdragon X generation.
The Surface Laptop 13.8 starts with the ten-core variant at 1,700 euros (512 GB SSD, 16 GB RAM), the twelve-core at 1,800 euros. Colors: jade green, silver, sand, and black. The 15-inch model costs 100 euros more each and is only available in silver and black. The top model of the 15-inch with 64 GB RAM and 2 TB SSD comes in at 4,200 euros.
