The 64-year-old Cologne comedian Gaby Köster, known for shows like ‘Ritas Welt’ and ‘7 Tage, 7 Köpfe’, still suffers from the effects of her severe stroke in 2008. In an interview with the magazine ‘Bunte’, she spoke about her strained financial situation: ‘The reserves from the good times are long gone. I live on my overdraft and have taken out a loan on my house. That really keeps me up at night.’
She is particularly burdened by the thought that her 33-year-old son might one day inherit her debts. ‘I never wanted my son to inherit debts from me,’ she said. Her son, however, is a great support. She emotionally recalls his words: ‘Mom, my darling – when I finish my studies, I’ll earn well, that’ll be enough for both of us.’
In addition to financial worries, Köster continues to struggle with physical limitations. Her left arm does not function properly, and walking is difficult. Nevertheless, she lives alone in her house, paints a lot, and uses an electric wheelchair when the weather is good. ‘Giving up is not an option,’ she made clear. At the end of May, she had already spoken about her situation on ‘Stern TV’ and mentioned monthly medication costs of ‘around 1,000 euros.’
