Since Tuesday, Russian forces have carried out more than 40 attacks on five districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region, the Kyiv Post reports, citing the local military administration. The city of Nikopol was hit particularly hard: an FPV drone attack killed three civilians there.
In response to the escalating attacks, Governor Oleksandr Hanzha convened the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Defense Council. According to the Kyiv Post, the body discussed evacuation security and expanding defenses against enemy drones. Hanzha instructed all authorities to maximize their resources to support Ukraine’s armed forces.
The Dnipropetrovsk region lies in southeastern Ukraine, bordering the partially occupied Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. Nikopol sits directly on the Dnipro River, just a few kilometers from the front line. For months, Russian troops have been shelling the city and surrounding villages almost daily with artillery, rockets, and drones.
