New bookings at travel group TUI have collapsed as a result of the Iran war. At the start of the summer holidays in Germany’s first federal states, the company is therefore relying on spontaneous travelers. TUI Germany CEO Benjamin Jacobi acknowledged that due to the uncertainty of recent months, there are still good prices in the booking systems.

According to a representative survey by the Research Group for Holidays and Travel (FUR), 25 percent of Germans recently said they had little or no money for a vacation. Only two out of three citizens are sure they will take a trip in 2026.

Jacobi is now hoping for last-minute bookers. Destinations where customers previously held back – such as Turkey – play a major role. At TUI, Turkey’s Antalya has replaced Mallorca as the most booked destination airport for this summer. On Mallorca, prices have fallen again after interim highs, Jacobi said: “Now discounts of more than 30 percent compared to the interim highs are possible.”
