Discounter Lidl says it reduced prices for branded coffee just over a week ago – by up to ten percent. Specifically, Jacobs Krönung in the 500-gram pack now costs €9.99 instead of €10.49. The same applies to Dallmayr Prodomo. Lavazza Crema e Aroma in the one-kilogram pack is available for €19.99 instead of €20.99. The price for a kilo of Melitta BellaCrema drops from €19.99 to €17.99.

Kaufland has also adjusted prices nationwide for comparable products, naming the same final prices. Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd say they permanently lowered prices on certain brands at the start of the week – including Lavazza Crema e Aroma and Jacobs Krönung. Most other major retailers also announced price cuts, though some did not specify brands or prices. “For own brands, this has already happened in part; further reductions will follow,” Edeka said. Rewe and Penny say they will also adjust prices for the mentioned products, while Norma stated it would not make further price cuts.

Despite the recent easing, the price level remains significantly above that of 2020, according to the Federal Statistical Office. Retailers and experts attribute the price increases to drought and poor harvests, especially in the main producing country, Brazil.
