Russian airstrikes hit five gas stations in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region overnight, Governor Oleksandr Hansha reported on Telegram. Multiple fires broke out, killing one woman and injuring three people.
The previous night, attacks on gas stations were reported in the northern Sumy region. Ukraine’s industry outlet Naftorynok has recorded over 140 such attacks since April. The strikes on fuel depots are seen as a response to growing fuel shortages in Russia, caused by Ukrainian hits on refineries and supply routes. Russia, a major oil exporter, is holding talks on possible fuel imports, according to the Kremlin.
Ukrainian forces struck the Russian city of Penza, about 550 kilometers from Ukraine, in the morning. The regional administration confirmed the attack but did not report damage. Eyewitnesses on social media reported smoke columns over defense plants. President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed on X an attack on a defense plant in Penza that produces missile components, as well as a strike on the Ufa refinery in the Urals, about 1,300 kilometers from Ukraine.
