The Prague High Court has rejected the appeal of convicted far-right extremist Marla Svenja Liebich against her extradition to Germany, a court spokeswoman said.

The 55-year-old far-right extremist was sentenced in July 2023 by the Halle district court to one year and six months in prison without parole for incitement to hatred, defamation, and insult. After the conviction, Liebich changed her gender from male to female and adjusted her first name from Sven to Marla Svenja. Critics viewed this as a provocation and abuse of the Self-Determination Act.

Liebich was arrested on April 9 in the Czech town of Krasna near the German border after months of a Europe-wide manhunt. She is currently in extradition custody in the Pilsen prison, which holds more than 1,200 inmates. The decision is final. As a rule, extradition now takes place within ten days, the court spokeswoman said. The police authorities are responsible for this.

As a last resort, Liebich could still appeal to the Constitutional Court in Brno, but this is considered unlikely. The final administrative decision lies with Czech Justice Minister Jeronym Tejc. If the handover takes place, Liebich would likely be taken to the Chemnitz correctional facility.
