Green MP Janosch Dahmen has appealed to the Federal Constitutional Court in the dispute over planned health insurance reform.
The financial reform of statutory health insurance is scheduled for debate in the Bundestag this Friday. The cabinet has already approved the plans put forward by Health Minister Nina Warken (CDU). The Greens are demanding more time: co-parliamentary group leader Katharina Dröge said on ZDF’s Morgenmagazin that the bill is being “dragged through the Bundestag in an absolute fast-track procedure.” No final version was available until Wednesday morning, and on Monday evening MPs received 300 pages of amendments, which were withdrawn on Tuesday as flawed.
Three years ago, the Federal Constitutional Court halted a legislative process on an MP’s emergency application: in summer 2023, it prohibited the Bundestag from passing the so-called heating law of the traffic-light coalition before the summer recess. A final ruling is still pending.
